2025 – A Year in Review: Global Power Services’ Highlights From the Past Twelve Months

As another year draws to a close, we would like to take this opportunity to thank our clients, partners, and colleagues for their continued support throughout 2025. It has been a landmark year for Global Power Services, both in terms of business growth and the projects we deliver. Some of our key highlights from the past twelve months can be found below.

In May, the business was acquired by Global, the UK’s leading energy and infrastructure solutions provider, in a strategic move that strengthened our position within the power and utilities infrastructure sector. Following the acquisition of 100% of the equity from owner Paul Oakes, our existing management team, including Managing Director Gerry Donnelly, remained in place, with all current staff retained.

Since the acquisition, our priority has been on developing and growing the business. Changing our name and identity has been an important part of that journey. As of October, Approved Power Services became Global Power Services, linking the business to the wider Global brand. We have the experience, the people, and now the backing of the wider group to make a lasting impact in the industry, enabling the business to keep delivering, keep growing, and keep leading in the high-voltage sector.

At any given time, Global Power Services is delivering high-voltage cable installation and jointing projects across the UK for leading power and utilities providers. With decades of experience and a proven track record, our teams continue to play a central role in the build-out and upgrade of the nation’s power networks. Our major, long-term projects, which we are actively working on and will continue into 2026, include: Rugeley 132kV Project, Keith 132kV Project, Beauly 132kV Cable Installation Project, South Shields 275kV Substation Civil Works, Norfolk Vanguard 400kV, and Hinckley Point C 400kV project.

Gerry Donnelly, Managing Director of Global Power Services, said: "2025 has been a phenomenal year for our business. From joining Global to securing major projects, we have strengthened our position in the sector and laid the foundation for even greater achievements in 2026.

“The scale of the group has allowed us to enter new markets, take on larger contracts, and expand our services. Over the last twelve months, we have also been on a recruitment drive – which will continue into 2026 – supporting the growth of the business and creating new job opportunities across the UK.

“On a personal note, the success of our business year after year would not be possible without our exceptional team, so I extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone for their hard work and commitment. I wish all a very Merry Christmas, a fantastic 2026, and a well-earned festive break.”
