Approved Power Services Welcomes Miles Crossley as Project Manager for Norfolk Vanguard 400kV Project

Please join us in welcoming Miles Crossley to the team at Approved Power Services. Recently appointed as Project Manager, Miles will be supporting the delivery of the Norfolk Vanguard 400kV cable installation project on behalf of our client, Siemens, who are delivering three offshore wind farms off the Norfolk coast: Vanguard West, Vanguard East, and Boreas – each designed to generate 1.4GW of power.

Martin Powell, Operations Director, commented:

“I’m really pleased to welcome Miles Crossley to APS. Miles comes with a wealth of experience and knowledge, and will be a welcome addition to the strong team we have assembled for the Vanguard Project. Miles joins APS as Project Manager for the project, and with his skills, teamwork, and collaboration, I feel he will fit in well with both APS and our valued client.”

Miles Crossley, Project Manager, added:

“I visited one of APS’ projects before I joined and what stood out for me was the team’s passion for delivering projects to the highest standard in safety, quality of installation and professionalism, whilst exceeding their client expectations throughout a project life cycle. APS’s ability to secure such a significant project from a renowned client speaks volumes about the team’s hard work, expertise, and the direction of a growing company that I’m now delighted to be part of."

APS’ scope of work for the Vanguard project focuses on the civil and cable installation from the onshore converter station to the Necton 400kV substation. The new 400kV connection for Norfolk Vanguard West and East runs mainly through agricultural land, with cables installed in ducts. It’s a single, three-phase circuit with two cables per phase (six cables in total), including a horizontal directional drill (HDD) beneath two drainage ditches roughly halfway along the route. APS is responsible for constructing the cable sealing end bases and associated steelwork at both the converter and substation ends, working closely with Siemens' cable supplier and jointing partner, LS Cables.
